The Carol McGee Memorial Endowment Fund Creates a Legacy of Compassion

Spring, 2018

Carol Ingram McGee

Carol Ingram McGee was a longtime Tuckahoe YMCA member and had a passion for teaching and participating in group exercise classes. She also volunteered as a tutor through the YMCA Tuckahoe Library Tutoring Program. Her personal values and the Y's values were the same—that all should be welcomed, embraced, and nurtured in spirit, mind, and body no matter position or circumstance in life. Wherever Carol saw a need, she responded—most often quietly, without fanfare. She loved her family, her friends, and her community. And that community will forever benefit from her legacy of caring and compassion.

Carol passed away January 6, 2017, at the age of 54. To honor her life, her husband Matt McGee, along with friends and family, created the Carol McGee Memorial Endowment Fund with gifts exceeding $50,000. The YMCA will maintain the principal of the Fund in perpetuity and utilize the earnings to support the YMCA's mission and to help people in need at the Tuckahoe Family YMCA. The Fund will help more children excel academically in after-school programs, send children to summer camp, help people fight diabetes, and ensure that the YMCA remains Open to All.
